Maruia School is located in the heart of the Maruia Valley and is made up of sixteen students, seven staff, six board of trustees members, eleven families, two volunteers, a fantastic PTA and an exceptionally supportive community.
Our vision is to realise each child’s unique potential so that they may find success. This is shown by the way we work together as a school and community to support our students to thrive while in our care.
We learn about our school values of manaakitanga, kaitiakitanga, arohatanga and whanaungatanga and practise these every day. These values are the backbone of the culture of our school.

Kia ora Maruia whānau,
I want to start by saying a huge thank you for jumping on board with the Fun Run! The students are super excited and motivated to keep fundraising so they can earn the prizes they want! For those who haven’t signed up yet, the details were in the last newsletter, which you can find in the newsletter section of this app. We have nearly raised $2,800 (gross) so far—let’s keep building on that so we can get some awesome new resources and equipment for our school!
The Fun Run itself will be held at 1:30 pm on March 5th, and it would be fantastic to have as many whānau there as possible. We’re also looking for volunteers to help set up or run different stations around the track. For example, the school will set up a slip and slide, some pea straw bales to jump over, and hoops to jump through. If you have any other fun ideas or would like to set up a station for the kids to run through, that would be awesome—the more stations we have, the more fun our tamariki will have, and that’s what this event is all about!
In other news, don’t forget to lock in next Wednesday, February 26th, for our Athletics Afternoon!
We’ve had such an awesome start to the year—our students were extremely keen to get back into the swing of school life and have settled into their mahi exceptionally well.
Thank you for your support!
Ngā mihi,
Alex
Kia ora Maruia,
Happy New Year to you all! I hope you had a wonderful festive season filled with special moments with whānau and friends.
I’m wondering if anyone is traveling to Nelson before the end of the month and wouldn’t mind taking our school water sample? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, a quick reminder that the first newsletter for this term will be issued on Friday, 7th February. Please send through anything you’d like included by Wednesday, 5th February.
Ngā mihi,
