About Our Kura

Maruia School is located in the heart of the Maruia Valley and is made up of nineteen students, seven staff, six board of trustees members, a fantastic PTA and an exceptionally supportive community.

Our vision is to realise each child’s unique potential so that they may find success. This is shown by the way we work together as a school and community to support our students to thrive while in our care.

We learn about our school values of manaakitanga, kaitiakitanga, arohatanga and whanaungatanga and practise these every day. These values are the backbone of the culture of our school.

See our Principal's Message here.

Togs tomorrow and welcome back!
8 Feb 2026

Kia ora whānau,

Just a friendly reminder that school is back tomorrow! The bus will be operating as usual with the same pick-up times as 2025.

Please remember to pack your child/ren’s togs and a towel for an afternoon swim.

We are so excited to see all the students again and have a great week planned. We’ll be learning about our pepeha, and there will even be a little bit of child and even some parent homework coming home, so please check your child/ren’s backpack for their book bag (yes, even Pīwakawaka have book bags this year!).

I’m honestly so pumped to see the kids after a long summer break!

Note: Please don’t delete the Skool Loop app just yet. We’re learning the ropes with the new Hero system, and I want to make sure everything is running smoothly before we ditch Skool Loop. I’ll let you know when it’s good to go ????.

Ngā mihi nui,
Alex
