About Our Kura

Maruia School is located in the heart of the Maruia Valley and is made up of sixteen students, seven staff, six board of trustees members, eleven families, two volunteers, a fantastic PTA and an exceptionally supportive community.

Our vision is to realise each child’s unique potential so that they may find success. This is shown by the way we work together as a school and community to support our students to thrive while in our care.

We learn about our school values of manaakitanga, kaitiakitanga, arohatanga and whanaungatanga and practise these every day. These values are the backbone of the culture of our school.

Kakaruai - St Arnaud

Morning! we are super excited to welcome the Kakaruai kids to St Arnaud this morning. Just a wee note to let you know it is colder than expected, there is snow on the tops surrounding the village. Brr! Please ensure children have gear that is warm enough. Looking forward to seeing you all in a few hours.

Final Camp Reminder

Kia ora all, a last reminder for camp next week. Please find attached information regarding transport. If the driver can please make contact regarding pick up times that would be great. A reminder for the Piwakawaka students/families - we will be meeting at the Buller Gorge/Swingbridge at 10am on Monday morning. For Kakaruai families - we will meet at the Red Deer Lodge in St Arnaud on Wednesday at 12pm. There is no need to come to school first. Please remember to pack a raincoat and warm jacket - it's definitely starting to cool off. It's also encouraged for children to bring a wetsuit and life jacket if they have one. Feel free to call, email or text if you have any questions at all. We're all really looking forward to our week. Enjoy your weekend!
