Maruia School is a truly special place, a small, rural school with a big heart. We offer a relationship-based, engaging primary education grounded in a deep belief that every child should feel empowered and successful in their learning journey.
We celebrate growth as much as achievement. Together, students, staff, whānau, and community, we strive to help each child reach their unique potential. We do this by sharing a strong vision for learning, embedding evidence-based teaching practices, maintaining consistent and purposeful systems, and embracing the stunning natural environment that surrounds our kura.
Our localised curriculum is deeply connected to our whenua. Through our involvement in Enviroschools, students engage in meaningful, hands-on learning experiences, from our māra kai to native propagation and conservation work, that build both knowledge and connection to place.
We are proud to foster learner voice and agency, empowering our tamariki to take an active role in shaping their learning and contributing meaningfully to our school community.
But Maruia is more than just a school, we are a whānau. Many of our children are third-generation students here, and our community is deeply invested in supporting our tamariki. We are committed to providing a high-quality education that connects our learners to each other, their whakapapa, and their place in the world.
It is a privilege to teach and lead at Maruia School. I am incredibly proud of our kura and the people who make it so special.
